A year ago I made the thread, The Theory of Devolution.
A fictional dystopia that serves largely as a warning about unrestricted bureaucratic power and human corruption.

1/9 The plot: The world is devolving, progressively getting worse as all life and all complex compounds slowly fall apart. Caused by an unknown phenomenon.
2/9. During our modern age, a world spanning crisis, whether real or an elaborate hoax, forced society into chaos.
The World Institute for Unity stepped in to help organise that chaos, eventually unifying the world through an event that I wont reveal here, creating a global government called The World Union.
3/9. Sometime after these events, A man who refused World Union Virtual Reality and state encouraged drug use, gets into trouble with the Union.
He came to hate the state and tried to fight it by himself, but was captured and forced into the Singularity program.
4/9. The Singularity: The Singularity is a governmental program which, according to them, aims to mix humans with AI, leading to one of the largest sub textual questions throughout the story; Can someone become an AI program? Or would a program like that only imitate them?
5/9. Violet: By this time in the story the entire world had become one large world spanning city. A H.R.Giger-like, Steampunk dystopia.
Violet, a master of manipulation who hates humanity, does whatever she can to take part in the Singularity program, seeking control over the world.
6/9. The rest of the story centres on the interactions between three semi-omnipotent AI entities, Rostam, Violet… and another entity which I won’t reveal much about here, Simurgh… As these three world controlling AI try to come to terms with the fact that the world is falling apart.
7/9. Collapse: The world eventually collapses as the Union and the unstoppable apocalypse destroy it. Wiping out the majority of the population, and leaving behind a Beksinski-esque wasteland.
8/9. All of these themes lead into a very intense and thought provoking read, or just simple dystopian entertainment depending on how the reader wants to interpret it.
Intentionally left out from this thread is information about the character Simurgh, several other characters, spoilers, and other interesting developments.
