The goal of Socialism is Communism, a Communist state where Capitalist oppression has ended and the workers are finally liberated. And the goal of Fabianism is the same thing, except without the other part.
The Fabian society in Britain, where it originates, is well over a 100 years old. It was created in 1884. People you have probably heard of like George Bernard Shaw and H.G.Wells, the sci-fi author from the early 1900’s/ late 1800's who wrote War of the Worlds, were apart of the Fabian society early on. The term Fabian comes from Fabius, the Roman general who used a slow attrition like strategy to defeat Hannibal.
Today we know that Keir Starmer, soon former Prime Minister of the UK, along with half of his cabinet are in the Fabian society. 141 members of the Fabian society were elected to UK parliament last election. Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of Australia has been to Fabian Society events along with many others, however membership is less clear, but highly likely unless they address this.
So we know that Fabianism is influential, but what is it?
Fabianism is essentially Socialist revolution done slowly. Slow boiling the frog. It’s like everything that you see happening today politically. Two parties, blue and red, pretend to be at each others throats, but then year after year the noose around the throats of the people gets tighter and tighter instead. More surveillance, more regulations, more migration, more control. All done slowly over many decades. Socialism done slowly.
The way I’ve always described it for many years now is that Fabianism is just Communism without lying. They believe (or at least this is the origin of what they believe, they will probably deny it now) that the state should have more power over the people, that individual liberties should be eroded, and that the intellectuals should be the ones governing society. Many of the earliest adherents to Fabianism were also eugenicists like H.G.Wells.
But what does the modern Fabian society say? Here is how they currently describe themselves from their UK website, I've highlighted the main points with bold and underlines:
“Who we are. We are a left-leaning think tank dedicated to new public policy and political ideas. We are a membership movement, active throughout Britain and open to everyone on the left. We are a democratically governed socialist society, a Labour affiliate and one of the party’s original founders. We champion and celebrate Fabianism, the belief that radical long-term goals are best advanced through empirical, practical, gradual reform. We don’t have organisational policy views and instead embrace debate and difference.”
So basically what I’m saying here anyway. Slow and steady version of Socialist revolution.
Total state control over the oppressed masses is basically what we think of when we think of communism and socialism anyway so their spiel suits this. Their main goal is to bring about their Marxist revolution slowly, steadily, and with intelligence. Their planning spans decades, mabye even well over a century. They don't really care which politician is in charge right now because the individual politician like Keir Starmer means nothing to them, because this is a long term plan that goes beyond the short term limits of Prime Ministers.
Fabianism is the more honest version of things like Marxism, Globalism, Socialism, Communism, etc etc (which are all the same thing but people like to waste time arguing about terminology.) It is the state against the people regardless of the name. But the society that was the most clear about this is the Fabian society.
It was even in their logo, the wolf in sheep's clothing, symbolising that they were launching a hidden revolution. They (the state) are the wolf and the sheep (the people) are who they are pretending to align with. This is Fabianism.
When you think about this deeply it also begins to make sense that things like brutalist architecture or those uncanny government caricature cartoons of diverse people they like to plaster on everything are so prevalent even though no one likes them. Not necessarily that they all tie back to the Fabians every time, but it’s definitely within their ball park. Slow Marxist power building is why train stations are so ugly. It’s why street lights are so bright and jarring now. Anything that is to do with government regulation and government input is clearly getting more oppressive. It’s because this style of ideology, which is promoted and shared by other groups as well, are doing it on purpose in order to bring the people down and elevate themselves up.
It’s all apart of the plan of creating a totalitarian state that controls a mass of historyless, raceless, godless, memoryless slaves. That is the original point of Fabianism, intellectual led state power over the controlled masses. And that is what Communism is. Although at least Communism has many adherents who believe they are doing something good and constructive. Fabianism from what i've seen isn't about that.
Aristocratic Socialism. Except there's nothing beneficial to the people about these aristocrats and the aristocrats themselves would be more accurately classed as Bureaucrats. Communism without lying about it.
