Trump just executed the perfect invasion of Venezuela. President Maduro was captured within hours and hardly any lives lost. Within 24 hours the war was over, and US control of Venezuelan oil was secured.
Then immediately afterwards he began hinting at doing the same to Colombia and Cuba. Now just recently has has said the same for Mexico, as well as reiterating that he wants to annex Greenland.
This is all playing directly into the latest White House Security Strategy which I’ve just uploaded. In this document the US essentially explains that they no longer see Russia as the main threat anymore, and that they now view Europe as a significant future threat. In the document they outline that the alliances they currently have with Europe are not rock solid and that they are assuming that these alliances will break down in roughly 20 years time due to mass migration and increasing authoritarianism in Europe. You can read the document for the exact phrasing.
So therefore America’s shift towards their own sphere, and securing their geopolitical situation makes perfect sense, and securing military access to Greenland also makes sense.
And what the US has published for the whole world to see is essentially true. Europe will destroy itself and their countries will collapse because of third world migration and hyper regulation in the future. From the US perspective, Europe is now a potential future threat or at least will be a future liability.
The US obviously would want to secure Greenland in that regard, but also I would assume in the future they will want Iceland as well.
I don’t fully believe they will annex them in a classical sense, and their shouldn’t be war between the US and Europe anytime soon. But Securing military rights and resource rights to further establish concrete control over the Atlantic and Arctic would be vital to the US considering whats in the security strategy.
Also this means that their immediate threat focus would be on China. Making sure China does not get its hands on Taiwan is vital for the entire Western world and especially the US as Taiwan makes a huge portion of high tech microchips. A process that is very complicated, the chips are made with extreme precision. By memory, smaller than a nanometre. No one else can do it and Taiwan uses that to their advantage.
On top of that, Taiwan would give a huge boost to China geopolitically and put both Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines under a lot of pressure to flip sides and side with China.
So in order to deter China from attacking Taiwan, which they are clearly very anxious to do as soon as possible, the US has invaded Venezuela to secure oil rights.
This seems unconnected on face value, but when you think about it it makes perfect sense.
China cannot survive without imported oil. And they continue to build more and more highways throughout their country and in other countries to create new routes if their main supply lines are cut off. Which is via the ocean, most going through the Malacca strait, near Singapore. (This is also part of the reason why China wants the south china sea so badly.)
With Trump securing oil in Venezuela the US has much more leverage over the entire oil market and oil distribution. If China manages to get oil in from elsewhere in the case of a blockade or naval warfare, then the only other way the US can stop them from getting oil is by controlling the source.
This is also partly why Iran will be next. Even though Trump is signalling that he’s focusing on Cuba, Mexico, and Colombia. And Greenland. And Canada.
The actual focus would be on Iran. However these other countries are simply being threatened with power moves to keep them in line.
Could the US still invade countries like Cuba and Colombia? Maybe, but it would probably be similar to Venezuela, just regime change.
Could the US invade Mexico? I think that’s slightly more likely however it’s nuanced. I think it’s likely that the Cartels fund the Democrats and are interlinked within US politics. So it might be too complicated.
And then for Canada and Greenland. I don’t think the US wants to annex them outright. I think this is all to put pressure on them so that they know who’s sphere they’re in. Could still happen though.
The US needs to “secure it’s backyard.” I’m not convinced they’ll militarily annex and full incorporate them. But it is definelty a possibility, especially if Europe gets weaker quicker, or wars change the board. And especially if the populations of Canada and Greenland want to be incorporated and vote to be incorporated, then annexation will happen.
But in summary I think that Venezuela was about China, and I don’t believe that the focus of the US is on it’s neighbours besides reminding them who’s in charge. I think Iran is their main target.
