The Israel/Hamas war has taught us one vital thing, that an armed populace is far superior to that of an unarmed populace. When Hamas militants tore across the border they massacred many hundreds of civilians. Shooting them in cars, in festivals, and in their own homes. A populace that was sufficiently armed would have, without any doubt, a better chance at deterring and even destroying an invasion force like that.
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” – U.S. Second amendment.
The U.S. got it right when they placed within their constitution that the right to bear arms shall not be infringed. Gun rights are vital for the protection of citizens, to encourage the respect of citizens between one another, to give the citizens a fighting chance at stopping incursions or invasion, and to deter government from oppressing the people, which all governments have a natural proclivity to do.
When guns are banned, law abiding citizens will become unarmed whilst criminals will stay armed.
In both cases criminals will always be able to arm themselves. Therefore, arming law-abiding citizens and giving them full rights to defense is superior to not arming them.
In Perth, Western Australia there was recently a push to curtail the amount of guns Perth residents held in their homes. And despite the fact that Australian’s are faced with gun rights restrictions, including expensive licensing and police inspections, there are a huge amount of gun owners and guns in their city. But it was vested interests, not the people directly that were looking to remove more of the people’s rights.
The amount of gun ownership we have despite the restrictions shows that there is a massive market for firearms and massive untapped economic potential for the firearms industry to expand production and distribution in Australia. Untapped potential which is essentially costing us money.
We have the potential to profit greatly from our own freedom.
But also there is a love for firearms in Australia and a massive culture already in place regarding gun safety. As every single weapon is required to be locked away safely.
There is no threat from an armed populace, unless of course you are a government looking to harm the populace or a criminal looking to do harm.
Gun ownership deters criminal activity and governmental abuse.
A populace that is armed is a populace that is safer. People speak of the ideal of voting as defending the peoples’ freedoms, however this is time and time again proven wrong.
The freedom of the people is secured by those who have the right to bare arms, as it is harder to oppress a populace that is armed and doesn’t vote, than a populace that votes but isn’t armed.
