Labor is now promising more student debt cuts.
And what this is, is simply a way for the government to “buy” votes.
But not in the normal sense of the word, instead, they’ll be “buying” votes with the voters money overtime.
And many voters do not care about this.
Many voters don’t even care about the future of our country.
Many don’t have any knowledge whatsoever of what good governance looks like.
Even if you explain how this scheme is not actually genuine, and that they’ll actually be the ones paying for this plus interest, the compulsory voter won’t care.
Yet that’s the whole point.
It’s too emotionally difficult for them to attempt to understand it, so they don’t.
And the major parties know this.
It’s easier for uninterested voters to pretend everything’s fine and agree with what is presented.
Then they look the other way and focus on their personal lives.
The bad thing is that compulsory voting means these people will actually be voting.
When really they shouldn’t be encouraged to vote at all.
If true democracy is to work, then the only people who should take part are those who actually care about the outcome.
That’s why it was normal in some democracies that only people who owned property could vote because they actually had a stake in the country and its future.
Obviously this wouldn’t work today though, as the property market is highly manipulated.
But forcing someone who doesn’t care about anything to vote, is just ridiculous.
People shouldn’t be forced to vote.
The outcome? They’ll vote for what is familiar.
And what is familiar is set by the TV.
The propaganda machine.
They’ll vote either blue or red at the whim of the machine.
Most are essentially apart of this machine.
Reduced to the knowledge of phrases and colours.
Self contorted by the shapes on the flickering rectangles.
The black mirrors in their pockets and “living” rooms twisting their sight.
Voting for blue or red like as if they made a conscious decision.
Democracy manifest.
