Are unions oblivious to the burning economy around us? People are living paycheck to paycheck but high paid union workers need even more apparently. Why do some people like unions and some people hate them?

Let’s get the definitions out of the way first.
A simple explanation is that a union is an organization of people that have come together in order to negotiate with an employer in order to get higher pay, better working conditions, or better working hours.
It functions essentially as a negotiating body, serving the same purpose that an individual would do when negotiating with their boss for better pay or conditions.
This sounds quite good from the outset, a good way for people to pool resources and essentially hire people who specialize in negotiating to negotiate for them.
And you know what, I actually like the idea itself, which is saying something since I’m quite libertarian.
👉But like most things in our modern society, this situation is being abused in a seriously detrimental way.
Unions are largely the brainchild of Karl Marx and the early Communists. Similar groups did exist beforehand, but not to this scale. They are typically associated with communist ventures and their rhetoric usually backs the case that they are ideologically aligned to Marxism. A quick flick through any Australian unions social media page can prove that easily.
👉Australia is a socialist country, run by a self declared “democratic socialist” party.
👉The CFMEU itself donated 1.974 million dollars to the Labor party in 2022.
👉John Setka was firmly for vaccines, before union members protested, forcing them to change their stance.
The CFMEU often works on government-funded construction projects. This means that the union has to work within the framework of government contracts, which can include specific labor requirements and conditions.
But this very close relationship has stifled economic progress in Australia.
Only just recently a shocking story broke, that union traffic controllers were being paid 3x that of other workers. Union traffic controllers on average were being paid over $200,000 dollars a year and were “finishing at 3:30, in time to watch cartoons”.
In comparison, nurses were making an average of $85,000py, a police constable $75,000 and a school teacher $77,000.
Here’s where the macro economics comes into play and is the reason why modern unions are detrimental to the Australian worker:
There are two main reasons why Australia is going through an economic crisis;
1⃣ There are too many people flooding the country, which is causing a housing crisis.
2⃣ The RBA is printing to much money, which is causing an oversupply of our currency, which then causes inflation.
These are the two main issues, supplemental to this, and also incredibly important, are things like discouraging Australian production and offloading the bulk of our resources overseas, Forcing inefficient and underdeveloped green energy ventures, allowing China to buy up and control huge portions of farmland, shutting down over 60% of the nation to private enterprise due to native title, and there’s heaps more.
👉The union, negotiating to increase the wages of these union traffic controllers who have 3 times the average workers pay, does not, whatsoever, address the real issues faced by Australians.
It addresses the superficial issues of a small group of Australians working as traffic controllers, allowing them to go from making a very high pay, to then making an incredibly high pay.
This has a horrible knock-on effect since real issues like inflation were never addressed. This means that the project that those T’C’s were working on is now more likely to blow out.
But that project was an infrastructure project… Meaning the government is paying for it… Meaning you are paying for it.
So who is paying for a traffic controller to make nearly 3 times that of a frontline nurse?
You.
Not only that but now you’re paying for a project that could have just gone overbudget. And you have to cover the costs of that and inflation.
But you haven’t got a pay rise in ages, even though inflation is over 7%.
And you work in a large business that sometimes contracts to the government. Who is going to negotiate a pay rise for you since they won’t listen to you?
The union…
Full circle. A destructive circle. This is the path to full blown communism. Individual enterprise fails to survive as the state grows larger and more powerful. The Unions act as an arm of the state, the ones who make the most money are the ones feeding off the bloated government system.
They get pay rises even though the value of their production hasn’t increased. This creates economic downturn on a micro level that will eventually lead on to the macro level.
👉Although number go up, quality goes down.
👉The best thing that anyone can do in this country to improve the lives of the worker, is to reduce the size of the state.
The government makes money for nothing, they take it from you. In an economic crisis they are the ones guaranteed to survive. Not private enterprise.
So in the end, they are the ones that win. Not the worker. Quality is stifled at the expense of the worker for the benefit of the state. But at least number go up on paper, right?
